Enable Sleep, Lock & Hibernate in Shutdown/Power Menu (Windows 10/11)


Follow these simple steps to make Sleep, Hibernate and Lock show in the Shutdown/Power menu.

Step 1 — Open Power Options

Press Windows + R, type control powercfg.cpl and press Enter.


Step 2 — Choose what power buttons do

  1. Click Choose what the power buttons do in the left pane.
  2. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  3. Under Shutdown settings, tick Sleep and Hibernate, then click Save changes.




Fix: Hibernate missing

Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:


powercfg /hibernate on

Fix: Lock missing

Open Run (Win + R), type gpedit.msc → User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Start Menu and Taskbar → Enable Show lock in the Start menu.
